Evaluation of technology transfer strategy of petrochemical process

Abstract: In this paper we present technology transfer strategy of petrochemical process to Iranian industries. Petrochemical industries import requested technology by some known strategies such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Licensing, Joint Venture (JV), Turn-key, Reverse Engineering (RE) and Research & Development (RD). The strengths and weaknesses of each strategy was evaluated according to our situation and condition. In first step, the related literature and previous studies we investigated to find indexes fo… Show more

“…The concept of the evolving business model in the early stage of a tech venture is in line with the life cycle theory. In the seed stage, the founding entrepreneur starts as the core resource coordinator (Mohaghar, Monawarian and Raassed, 2010;Clarysse, Brunell and Wright, 2011) with an explorative approach to define the business idea. The exploration of the idea and initial product development generate increasing costs.…”

“…The study extracted a new indicator that reflects changes in technological ability based on the citation pattern of a patent portfolio. In addition, there are many existing studies such as technology transfer monitoring for government-funded R&D projects [23], technology transfer as a learning and developmental process for Norwegian programs [24], and analytic hierarchy process modeling to evaluate the indicators of technology transfer strategies in the petrochemical industry [25]. Kim [26] proposed a hierarchical analysis model of the decision making process in order to predict technology transfer policy directions.…”

“…Chehrehpak et al [16] proposed a fuzzy AHP method to select the most suitable solution for technology transfer in the gas industry by collecting the opinions of a large number of experts. Mohaghar et al [17] used the AHP method to evaluate various technology transfer strategies in the petrochemical industry, including foreign direct investment (FDI), licensing, joint venture, turn-key, and reverse engineering. Radfar [18] presented a fuzzy TOPSIS approach to identify and prioritize various foreign investment methods for technology transfer in the ship-making industry.…”
