“…We have noted a high incidence of defective luteal phases when the basal body temperature graph showed a long "staircase rise" extending over 5 days or more. In our material 33% of 1050 infertile patients had hypoluteal endometrium (Table I), a finding which is at variance with the frequently quoted observations of Siegler&Siegler (24).…”

“…In our study the first trimester of pregnancy showed the highest T c , which gradually fell through pregnancy and remained below non-pregnant values for at least 3 months after delivery. Overall these two findings corroborate early studies on T c in women (Siegler andSiegler, 1951, Barton andWiesner, 1945), where a higher T c through the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle continued until the fourth month of successful pregnancies and if no pregnancy ensued T c fell with the onset of menstruation. Previous studies showing a persistently raised maternal T c during pregnancy may have had an inadequate length of follow-up and assumed temperatures immediately after delivery are similar to those before pregnancy and where rectal measurements were recorded, these may have been influenced by radiation and conduction of heat from the gravid uterus.…”

“…Lindqvist et al (2003) recorded higher pre-conception T c than the temperatures we found 1 year after delivery, but they measured T c in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle where it is known to be higher, whereas the final experiment in this study was timed to the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle when sex hormones and T c levels are at their lowest. We chose tympanic temperature as our measure of T c as this is accessible, can be measured with minimum discomfort to the subjects and is the closest site to the temperature control centre of the hypothalamus, T ty has also been shown to follow oesophageal temperatures to within 0.2°C and follows the changes to hypothalamic temperature closely and without lag (Baker et al 1972).…”

“…The findings of this systematic review and the need for ‘alternative therapeutic help’ (Siegler, 2021) identify a necessity for further research measuring the four underlying components’ effectiveness for autistic adolescents in larger samples. The four components hold similarities with Axline’s (1969) eight principles of play therapy.…”

“…One such organisation ‘Autism Inclusion Meets’ (AIM) are protesting against positive behaviour support, a type of directive/behavioural therapy commonly offered to autistic children. AIM believe ‘these methods are outdated and reductionist and value compliance over autonomy, human rights and free will’ and more generally believe that ‘behaviourist interventions harm’ (Siegler, 2021).…”
