Evaluation of the Function and Manufacturing Technique of Bamboo Charcoal Complex Yarns and Knitted Fabrics

Abstract: To satisfy the many requirements of our daily life, complex textiles that are both functional and beneficial have been successfully designed and developed. This research investigates the design of bamboo charcoal/spandex (BC/S) complex yarns, fabricated with a blend of spandex and bamboo charcoal polyester textured yarn, which possess superior elastic recovery. The expansion multiples of the spandex was 1.5-3.5, the wrap counts are 2-4.5 turns/cm, and the speed of the rotor twister was 4000-12000 rpm. When the… Show more

“…The main functional groups of bamboo charcoal are C=C, C-H, and a few -OH; it has excellent adsorption capacity for non-polar substances [ 3 , 4 ]. At the same time, bamboo charcoal also has several beneficial characteristics, including electromagnetic shield material, far infrared rays, non-toxic, bioinert material, and high electric conductivity [ 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 ]. It has been used in various fields such as environmental protection, biological materials, medicine, etc.…”

“…Bamboo charcoal (BC) powder is often used to make BC fibers used extensively in making clothes, socks, and towels in Taiwan and China. Because these BC fibers maintain their functional ability as effective adsorption media, they eliminate odors, improve air quality, exhibit bacteriostatic properties, block electromagnetic radiation, and regulate temperature and humidity effects [ 1 ].…”
