Evaluation of TPGU using entropy - improved TOPSIS - GRA method in China

Abstract: China is still one of the countries dominated by thermal power generation. In order to generate more efficient, stable and clean power, it is necessary to evaluate thermal power generation units (TPGU). Firstly, a comprehensive evaluation index system for TPGU with 20 secondary indicators was established from four aspects: reliability indicators, economic indicators, technical supervision indicators, and major operating indicators. Secondly, the entropy weight method can be used to calculate the weight of each… Show more

“…Multi-criteria methods based on Mahalanobis and Euclidean distances find widespread application in data analysis. The Mahalanobis distance finds utility in several MCDM approaches, including TOPSIS [26][27][28][29][30][31], TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese for Interactive and Multicriteria Decision Making) [32], or other decision-making problems [33][34][35][36]. The Mahalanobis distance, incorporating correlations with diverse criteria, empowers us to proficiently address the asymmetrical relationships among criteria.…”

“…The entropy method provides weights objectively based on the variations in data of target indicators, and may avoid the impacts of subjective and objective factors on the results [13,14]. The entropy-weighted technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOP-SIS) is a multi-criteria decision-making method that identifies the superiority and inferiority of the objects according to the difference between the object data and ideal data [15][16][17]. Following the assignment of weights using the entropy-weight method, parameters were included in the TOPSIS method to rank the effectiveness of different interventions.…”

“…The Mahalanobis distance can be used in various MCDM methods, such as TOPSIS [ 10 , 35 , 45 , 47 , 48 , 49 ], TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese for Interactive and Multi-criteria Decision Making) [ 50 ], or other decision-making problems [ 51 , 52 , 53 , 54 ]. It helps DMs identify the most suitable alternative according to their preferences and objectives while considering the multi-dimensional nature of the data and the interplay between criteria.…”
