Eventos Deposicionais Fluviais Quaternários e Dinâmica Recente do Vale do Rio Maracujá – Quadrilátero Ferrífero/MG

Entretanto, muito pouco se sabe sobre a dinâmica fluvial dessa bacia, marcada por um grande fornecimento sedimentar aos cursos d'água. No intuito de suprir lacunas como esta e contribuir para a compreensão da evolução geomorfológica do Quadrilátero Ferrífero, este trabalho apresenta o quadro dos níveis e seqüências deposicionais fluviais do vale do rio Maracujá. Os registros deposicionais permitem o levantamento de reflexões e comparações entre os eventos paleogeomorfológicos e a dinâmica fluvial atual. O estudo foi baseado em trabalhos de campo, quando foram levantados perfis estratigráficos e caracterizados os níveis e seqüências deposicionais, posteriormente mapeados e representados em perfis-síntese e esquemas de seções transversais. Os resultados mostram a existência de três níveis de terraço e um de planície e sua interpretação revela mudanças significativas no padrão de sedimentação da bacia, antes marcada por espessos pacotes argilosos e hoje caracterizada pela arenização dos depósitos. Morfologicamente, o Rio Maracujá também vem se alterando, tendendo a apresentar um padrão entrelaçado em alguns trechos, em razão do intenso fornecimento sedimentar gerado pelos voçorocamentos e por atividades antrópicas, como a mineração. O escalonamento dos níveis de terraço se mostra como uma resposta ao contínuo soerguimento do escudo brasileiro apontado em trabalhos anteriores sobre a dinâmica fluvial no Quadrilátero Ferrífero.Palavras-chave: geomorfologia fluvial; níveis de terraço; Quadrilátero Ferrífero. However, little is known about the dynamics in this watershed, marked by high sediment supply to water courses. In order to fill gaps like this and contribute to the understanding of geomorphological evolution of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero, this paper presents the framework of levels and depositional sequences in the valley of Maracujá River. The depositional records allow the lifting of reflections and comparisons between geomorphologic paleoevents and current dynamics. The study was based on field works, when stratigraphic profiles were described and characterized the levels and depositional sequences. Neotectonics, River Capture and Landscape Evolution in the Highlands of Se Brazil

Later, the Quadrilátero Ferrífero and the Moeda syncline were subjected to a long period of denudation and neotectonic events (SAADI, 1991;MAGALHÃES JÚNIOR, 1993;MAGALHÃES JÚNIOR et al, 2012) which produced a relief inversion, a drainage reorganization and the sculpture of water gaps (BARBOSA, 1949;KING, 1956;DORR, 1969). Due to these conditions, the Moeda syncline is a highly appropriate area for studies of landform evolution and river capture.…”
