Rosenthal (1985) took issue with Skoog's methodology, and she questioned his conclusion that the BSCS texts had witnessed a post-1960s decline in their attention to evolution. She argued that rather than a word-count, a better technique would be to measure the percentage of a text devoted to evolution; in this way the results would not be confounded with changes in the overall lengths of the texts.…”
