Evolution of Morphology and Microstructure in Electrodeposited Nanocrystalline Al–Mg Alloy Dendrites

Abstract: Nanocrystalline Al-Mg dendrites were fabricated through galvanostatic electrodeposition. Initially feather-like morphology was formed exhibiting morphological evolution to smooth globules at its tips. With eventual deposition, rough globules formed over the smooth ones. The feather-like and smooth globules possessed supersaturated face centered cubic (fcc)-Al(Mg) phase with ~7 and ~20 at.% Mg respectively. The rough globules contained hexagonal close packed (hcp)-Mg(Al) phase with ~80 at.% Mg. Microstructural … Show more

“…27,49,68 As for delivery tools of gene medicine, the nanoparticle-based delivery system has been well studied and developed. [52][53][54] Several nanoplatforms have been reported to deliver miRNA or anti-miRNA as therapeutic agents. 27,[55][56][57][58] However, the clinical translation remains challenging due to various barricades, including undefined size and shape, particle aggregation or dissociation, nonspecific targeting, poor tumor accumulation, and undesirable immunogenicity.…”

“…We electrodeposited nanocrystalline supersaturated metastable Al−Mg dendrites for H2−storage [12]. By thorough analyses we understood the Al-Mg electrodeposition scheme [13]; internal [14], external morphological [12], microstructural [15], compositional [16,17], textural [18], phase [19] features; and the dendritic growth mechanisms [20,21]. “…34 In yet another study, the morphological evolution from featherlike to globular dendrites was attributed to changing local current densities. 35 In the present study we investigate on the classification of the type of Al-Mg electrodeposition under present experimental conditions by compositional analysis of the deposits and electrolytes. Our analysis shows that under present experimental conditions Al-Mg electrodeposition can be classified as anomalous type.…”
