Background Globally, the healthcare industry is well known to be one of the strongest drivers of economic growth and development. The sector has gained substantial attention to deal with the fallout of COVID-19, leading to improvement in the quality observed in developed and developing nations. With the advent of the twenty-first century, globalization an ever-growing populace, and environmental changes prompted the more noteworthy spread of irresistible diseases, highlighting the association between wellbeing and future health security. The massive spread of COVID-19 paralyzed the global economy and took a toll on health governance and wellbeing. The present review aims to map the harrowing impacts of COVID-19 on the QoL (quality of life) observed. Particularly the post-pandemic era is likely to boot-strap the healthcare sector. Hence in post COVID era, there is a dire need to strengthen the healthcare system and understand the evolving challenges to answer calls in recovery in the wake of COVID-19. Conclusion There is a flurry of research highlighting the implications faced due to the rise of the pandemic, resulting in the wrecking growth and development. However, the massive potential of telehealth is still largely underexplored with scarce research on countless evolving technologies. The current crisis highlighted the need to develop emerging frameworks and facilitate multilateral cooperation. The present research can serve as the baseline for better future strategies to improve global health initiatives. Further, this can help to focus on wider health determinants, redesign strategies and policies for the healthcare industry and to mitigate/deal better with future pandemics.

The global crisis of the present era, the COVID-19 pandemic, has changed given new normal ways in many of the sectors. The present review highlights the impact, problems, and challenges faced by major areas of the health care sector due to pandemics and also addresses some of the aspects of upcoming approaches. The healthcare sector is the one sector that is on-demand since this COVID-19 pandemic raised. During the initial period, there was disruption of various services provided by the health care sector due to supply chain management issues and reduction in demand by consumers, quarantine, and lockdown period. The healthcare workers also confronted a huge challenge due to the increased number of cases and shortage of amenities and safety measures. This significantly affected even COVID-19 patients and the general public suffering from other diseases. To fight this issue, research and development (RandD) in pharmaceutical industries with great efforts to explore molecules and save many lives. Gradually innovative ways to strengthen and combat pandemics started emerging. Numeral ways and rules were adopted to prevent, diagnose and cure the disease. Artificial intelligence technology has emerged as one of the boons to address many of the unresolved or time-consuming mysteries. All the divisions of health care sectors have started working more efficiently with adopted new strategies to face future challenges.

The outbreak of novel corona virus had led the entire world to make severe changes. A secured healthcare data transmission has been proposed through Telecare Medical Information System (TMIS) based on metaheuristic salp swarm. Patients need proper medical remote treatments in this Post-COVID-19 time from their quarantines. Secured transmission of medical data is a significant challenge of digitally overwhelmed environment. The objective is to impart the patients’ data by encryption with confidentiality and integrity. Eavesdroppers can carry sniffing and spoofing in order to deluge the data. In this paper, a novel scheme on metaheuristic salp swarm based intelligence has been sculptured to encrypt electrocardiograms (ECG) for data privacy. Metaheuristic approach has been blended in cryptographic engineering to address the TMIS security issues. Session key has been derived from the weight vector of the fittest salp from the salp population. The exploration and exploitation control the movements of the salps. The proposed technique baffles the eavesdroppers by the key strength and other robustness factors. The results, thus obtained, were compared with some existing classical techniques with benchmark results. The proposed MSE and RMSE were 28,967.85, and 81.17 respectively. The time needed to decode 128 bits proposed session key was 8.66 × 10 52 years. The proposed cryptographic time was 8.8 s.
