Abstract:Earlier we have identified a new class of human genomic sequences expressed preferentially in tumors. Here we use a comparative genomics approach and conservation analysis to study evolutionary specificity of nine human tumor-specific sequences, described previously. Three sequences had originated in the primate lineage. The other three had mammalian orthologs, but conservation analysis has shown that these sequences evolved neutrally. Three sequences were conservative. These data confirm previously formulated… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
