Ewing’s sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor (ES/PNET) of the penis

Abstract: Ewing's sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor (ES/PNET) of the penis has been very rarely defined. We report a case of a 19-year-old patient with a tumor, localized in the dorsal side of penis, composed of small round cells with diffuse membranous mic-2 (CD99) immunopositivity. The patient was treated with multiagent chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

“…EES may develop in soft tissues at virtually any anatomical location, but the main sites of involvement are the paravertebral region, the trunk, and the extremities (4, 6, 7, 10-13). However, primitive localization in the penis is extremely rare; only a few relevant cases have been reported in the previous literature (8,9,14,15). Due to the lack of specific clinical, radiological features and the rarity of the condition, it can easily be misdiagnosed by surgeons and radiologists.…”

“…The first case of primary EES/PNET of the penis was reported in 1999 by Toh et al 1 Since then, only very few primary penile EES/PNET cases were listed in the literature. 2-4 Different characteristics of those cases are compared and summarized in Table 1.…”
