Exact ground-state phase diagrams for the spin-3/2 Blume–Emery–Griffiths model

Abstract: We have calculated the exact ground-state phase diagrams of the spin-3/2 Ising model using the method that was proposed and applied to the spin-1 Ising model by Dublenych (2005 Phys. Rev. B 71 012411). The calculated, exact ground-state phase diagrams on the diatomic and triangular lattices with the nearest-neighbor (NN) interaction have been presented in this paper. We have obtained seven and 15 topologically different ground-state phase diagrams for J>0 and J<0, respectively, on the diatomic lattice and have… Show more

“…For the S ¼ 3=2 BEG model, our result agrees completely with that obtained by Zang and Yang [18] and Canko et al [19]. In low temperatures, the values of the sublattice magnetizations /S z ðAÞS and /S z ðBÞS calculated by the MC simulation are consistent with the GS spin structures determined by comparing the GS energies.…”

“…By comparing these energies, the ground state phase diagrams are obtained and shown in Fig. 2. Our results for S ¼ 3=2 agree well with those by Zang and Yang [18] and Canko et al [19]. On the other hand, our results for S ¼ 5=2 do not agree completely with those by Zang and Yang [18] as the GS spin structure S(d) with S z ¼ 5=2 and S z ¼ 1=2 is not considered in their calculation.…”

“…[23,24] Moreover, the dynamic behaviour of the spin-3/2 isotropic BEG model was also studied by the path probability method (PPM) with point distribution. [25,26] Especially, the system approaching towards the stable and metastable equilibrium states was investigated.…”

“…An important step for the comprehension of these mixed models is the calculation of their ground state. The ground state diagrams are very useful to understand the low temperature behavior of the system [11,[51][52][53][54][55], and to test the behavior of the techniques used in their simulation. Also, these diagrams can be used to locate regions of the phase parameter where an interesting magnetic behavior can emerge.…”
