Excess/deviation properties of binary mixtures of 2,5-dimethylfuran with furfuryl alcohol, methyl isobutyl ketone, 1-butanol and 2-butanol at temperature range of (293.15–323.15) K

Abstract: Experimental values of density and speed of sound for binary liquid mixtures of 2,5-dimethylfuran (2,5-DMF) with furfuryl alcohol (FA), methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), 1-butanol and 2-butanol and over the entire composition range of 2,5-DMF and at the temperature range of 293.15–323.15 K at 10 K intervals and at pressure p = 0.1 MPa were reported. Experimental data were used to assess the thermodynamics properties of studied mixtures. These properties were used to interpret the molecular interactions among comp… Show more

“…The oil yields may be much higher than those of the best oilseed crops. For example, compared to neem, karanja, pine and eucalyptus, algae biodiesel contains 45% oil by weight which is significantly higher [9]. However, biofuels from the above sources are limited in geographical distribution; therefore, their carbon impact and economic aspects, are ineffective in replacing fossil fuels [10].…”

“…The results of the measurements are compared to the data found in literature for pure furfural and furfuryl alcohol [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] and good agreements were noted (Figure 1).…”

“…Nduli and Deenadayalu [18] reported density, speed of sound and refractive index of furfural and furfuryl alcohol at temperatures (298. 15-318.15) K, while Mahi et al [19] gave the same thermodynamic properties but only for furfuryl alcohol in the temperature interval (293. 15-323.15) K, all at atmospheric pressure.…”

“…Petroleum products (oil, gas, and fuels), colloidal systems, and those which result from biomass conversion are among the fluids that have received much attention in various industries [1,2]. Because of the high demand for oil around the world, more attention is being paid to Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods [3].…”
