Excitation functions and yields for cyclotron production of radiorheniumvianatW(pxn)181-186gRe nuclear reactions and tests on the production of186gRe using enriched186W

Abstract: Excitation functions and thin-target yields for the 181−186g Re radionuclides have been measured by the stacked-foil activation technique on tungsten foils of natural isotopic composition for different proton energies up to 22.0 MeV. A further check on the cross sections was done by irradiation of thick-targets and comparing the irradiated thicktarget yields with those calculated by analytical integration from the thin-target yields. The production of 186g Re was also studied by the irradiation of thick-target… Show more

“…As different production routes will be discussed in more detail in the section "Production routes of medically relevant radioisotopes", we present in the figure all the available experimental and theoretical data. Our measurements form a good extension to higher energies of cross sections published by [19,20,26] up to 30 MeV and are in agreement with [14] between 50 and 60 MeV.…”

“…Our new values are coherent with the trend of reference [15] With a TTY (Figure 3) of 7.8 MBq/µAh at 30 MeV, the deuteron production route is clearly the best choice. Indeed, with protons [10,18], the recommended TTY [10] is equal to 2.4 MBq/µAh at the same energy.…”
