A full set of rate constants for electron-impact-induced excitation transfer between 3 P 2 , 3 P 1 , 3 P 0 and 1 P 1 states of the Ne atom is obtained from optical absorption measurements in the afterglow He-Ne plasma with pulsed electron heating in the electron temperature range T e = 0.03-1.2 eV. The rate data are consistent with the model requiring that the atomic-core total angular momentum cannot change if a transition is to occur.
