Excited States in Odd Sn Nuclei, A = 109-125

Abstract: Gamma-ray and internal conversion studies of the odd Sn isotopes investigated through (α,n) and (d,p) reactions are reported. A level scheme is proposed for each nucleus. An odd parity state at moderate excitation energy above the 1h 11/2 single quasiparticle state is identified or proposed in each nucleus, some of which are observed for the first time. Individual level structure and the level systematics in the odd tin isotopes are discussed.

“…The results from the highly sensitive experimental setup inŘež [11] and the high-resolution Q3D magnetic spectrograph [12] will supersede data from these previous experiments. Besides these two reactions the present Nuclear Data Sheets (NDS) level and decay schemes of 125 Sn [13] are based on the data from the resonance neutron capture [14], the (α, 3 He) reaction [9,15], the (d,pγ ) reaction [16], and the β decay [17].…”

“…Sn isotopes, with the magic proton number Z = 50, have recently been shown to possess a wealth of interesting nuclear structure phenomena, and have been of enduring experimental and theoretical interest [1][2][3][4] . The coexistence of both spherical and deformed structures has been systematically observed in the even-A Sn isotopes.…”

“…1. For the assignment of spins and pa.rities the angular-distribution coefficients given in [5] and [6], the /g-conversion coefficients given in [7] and the results of our lifetime measurements have been used. Up to now in the literature the values d ~ = 5/2 + or 7/2 + are given for the ground state of 1~…”
