Exosomes and Micro-RNAs in Aging Process

Abstract: Exosomes are the main actors of intercellular communications and have gained great interest in the new cell-free regenerative medicine. These nanoparticles are secreted by almost all cell types and contain lipids, cytokines, growth factors, messenger RNA, and different non-coding RNA, especially micro-RNAs (mi-RNAs). Exosomes’ cargo is released in the neighboring microenvironment but is also expected to act on distant tissues or organs. Different biological processes such as cell development, growth and repair… Show more

“…Therefore, lipid raft domains of plasma membrane can produce endocytic vesicles, which happens very fast, leading to the formation of early endosomes. [38][39][40][41][42][43] The destination of early endosomes is completely different based on cargo. For instance, if the aim is to degrade cargo, multivesicular bodies can fuse with lysosomes.…”

“…Exosomes of MSCs might be the ideal alternative treatment option [ 35 ]. Exosomes have been shown to play the same role as the cells which are derived from in the repair process of a variety of tissues and organs [ 16 , 36 ]. Therefore, it can be hypothesized that infarct-preconditioned exosomes can play a crucial role in vascular remodeling.…”

“…Exosomes are one of the smallest extracellular vesicles, which are involved in cell-to-cell communication and protein and RNA delivery (Hamdan et al 2021 ), especially the molecular component miRNA, which has broad prospects as a new type of biomarker (Lin et al 2015 ). In the skin microenvironment, intercellular communication and information transmission involving exosomes play an important role in maintaining cell function and tissue homeostasis (Yin et al 2020 ).…”
