“…near the wellhead to reduce the phase-equilibrium condition of the hydrate, resulting in insufficient temperature and pressure conditions in the formation to maintain the stability of the hydrate, so that the hydrate decomposes into methane gas. 10 According to current results, CO 2 replacement method and inhibitor injection method can be used as a supplement to other exploitation methods. In addition, the other way is to break the solid NGH on the seafloor into debris that can flow with the slurry by artificial lifting.…”

“…The exploitation of an NGH reservoir could be divided into two ways: one is to extract gas by in situ dissociation of NGH (depressurization, thermal stimulation, and inhibitor injection and carbon dioxide replacement methods). The depressurization method is to reduce the pressure of the wellhead by pumping groundwater or gas, so that the pore pressure in the area near the wellhead is lower than the equilibrium pressure of the hydrate phase, so as to decompose the hydrate . As the depressurization method is similar to the conventional oil and gas exploitation, the pore pressure conduction in the hydrate reservoir with high permeability is fast, so the depressurization method is considered to be the most economical and effective exploitation method.…”

“…As a bridge energy source that drives the transition from conventional to clean energy, natural gas will play a leading role in promoting the transformation of the energy mix and will be vital toward establishing a low-carbon, environmentally friendly, safe, and efficient energy system in China, as well as realizing China's goals of peaking carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060. 6,7 Currently, China relies heavily on natural gas imports, with considerable unmet demand for natural gas in China. Although practical experience has been accumulated and theoretical techniques have been developed aer multiple attempts to perform the trial exploitation of NGHs worldwide, 8-10 a complete theoretical system is still lacking to guide the exploitation and utilization of NGHs.…”
