“…In the experiments of measuring JHC flames, the liquid fuel was either sprayed to dispersed droplets by an atomizer/nebulizer or prevaporized directly by heating. Note that the JHC spray flame is similar to that from most of the practical devices; however, the prevaporized case skips several typical pre-processes of liquid fuel combustion, e.g., atomization, droplet breakup, and evaporation. Apparently, the prevaporized case is analogous to the JHC gaseous flame.…”

“…Later, a great number of investigators or teams, including Oldenhof et al, , used a similar JHC burner to characterize the ignition process of burning gaseous CH 4 or CH 4 /H 2 under MILD conditions. For liquid fuels, the JHC flames have also been examined and measured at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delft University, , and Adelaide University. Table summarizes the conditions of JHC flames of different liquid fuels for the previous experiments. …”

“…Many experiments studying H 2 /N 2 and CH 4 /air lifted flames have been performed in a hot vitiated co-flow burner. The flame temperature distribution, ignition delay, lift-off height, important species, and time-resolved parameters of the lifted flame are investigated in these experiments. Different numerical simulations were conducted on the basis of the results of these experimental data. Various models (e.g., Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes, large eddy simulation for flow, probability density function, and conditional moment closure for combustion) and direct numerical simulation are employed.…”
