Abstract:Alcohol consumption poses a significant risk for the development of chronic illnesses, one of the leading causes of “preventable” disease and death worldwide. Harmful consumption of alcohol is thought to result in approximately 2.5-3 million deaths each year, the majority of which are caused by alcohol-related liver diseases.
