The present thesis was written as part of my work as a scientific assistant at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Design at Technische Universität Darmstadt between 2017 and 2022. The intention of subsequent lines is to thank those who have supported me and encouraged me on my long journey. My greatest thanks go to Professor JENS SCHNEIDER for the trust placed in me and for giving me the opportunity to begin and complete my dissertation at Technische Universität Darmstadt in an rather interesting field of research on innovative materials for structural engineering. His dedication to the institute, motivation of staff and openness to new research ideas is unique and enabled me to work freely and creatively. I am especially grateful to him for taking time to mentor me and my colleagues even though he was very busy with the tasks and activities of the vice presidency at Technische Universität Darmstadt. These thanks also go to Professor ULRICH KNAACK, whose declared goal is to train young scientists on their hopefully long path in science in such a way that they are better than their teachers and form the next generation of professors and scientist of highest levels, for his persistent support, motivation and openness for discussions. I am also very grateful to Professor STEFAN KOLLING for his scientific discussions, which encouraged to look at problems from different perspectives.I would also like to thank my colleagues at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Design for the many interesting discussions and the friendly interaction to a very pleasant working atmosphere. Special thanks go to my colleagues MICHAEL DRASS, EV-GENIA KANLI, MARCEL HÖRBERT, MUHARREM AKTAS, REBECCA BACH and SILKE WALLNER. Furthermore, I would like to thank MARCUS PFEIFFER, ROBERT GÖTZINGER, JULIAN MUSHÖVEL, NICOLA JESSEN, MARCO VOLKMANN and FABIAN LUTTROPP from other institutes who also contributed to the BAMP! project in neighboring research fields. In addition, I would like to thank the students of Technische Universität Darmstadt who supported me through their enthusiasm for research and interest in complex issuesin the form that they wrote their theses with me. This research acknowledges financial support within the LOEWE program of excellence of the Federal State of Hessen (project initiative BAMP!).I would also like to thank Herbster Hülsen in particular Mr. MICHAEL JENISCH and Mr. NICOLAI WIECZOREK, Grünig Adhesives, Paul & Co, Stora Enso who have always supported my projects and my research. The preparation of a dissertation requires family support. Therefore, I would like to especially thank my parents, MEVLÜDE and HACI KIZILTOPRAK, who are always at my side and have supported me in every situation. My sincere personal thanks go to my beloved wife CANAN for bringing happiness, wisdom and tenderness into my life. Her blind trust and her support in all kind of situations -in good and hard times -made it possible to write my dissertation.
