Experimental research on biomass cutting process

Abstract: This paper contains the results of the biomass cutting process in which wheat straw was used. Tests were made on the prototype test stand which made it possible to control the parameters of the cutting process and based on that define its energy consumption. During the research the following parameters were measured: rotational speed of electric motor, which drives the rotor with a set of cutting knives, electric current supply and torque on the shaft. Tests were made for the variable moisture content of the b… Show more

“…Technically, the punching process with a closed contour tool is a combination of the compression of the scrap and shearing of the material. Because of that it is possible to find some similar correlations between the geometrical parameters of the tools and the necessary force or torque in cutting [9] and agglomeration [10][11][12][13][14]. Since polymer composite belts may have various structures, the main resemblance can be found in natural polymers [9][10][11]15] and unclassical materials [12][13][14].…”

The balance of the total production and utilization of straw in the years 2010-2030 [ Compaction of materials enables the change of their mechanical and usable properties as well as transport and storage conditions [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. The manufacturing of solid fuels calls for the utilization of proper compaction technique.…”

“…Powders and shredded materials need to be compacted to give them the appropriate geometrical form and mechanical properties [9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. The manufacturing of renewable solid fuel from broken down lignocellulosic materials requires proper preconditioning of the material, breaking it down, drying and mixing.…”
