Exploration of Phase Behavior in Asymmetric Semiflexible Polyelectrolyte Mixtures Using Polymer Field Theory
Michael Beckinghausen,
Andrew J. Spakowitz
Abstract:Polyelectrolyte phase segregation arises from the subtle effects of charge correlation, polymer structure, and mixing entropy. Predicting the conditions for phase transitions requires a theoretical approach that accurately reflects these thermodynamic contributions. Our self-consistent polyelectrolyte field-theoretic model includes explicit dipole-solvent ordering and employs the worm-like chain model within the random phase approximation to capture the fluctuation effects in polyelectrolyte solutions. In this… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
