Abstract: Biogenic manganese oxides (BioMnOx) are known to self-catalyze Mn(II) oxidation and are unfavorable in conventional ultrafiltration (UF) processes for Mn(II)-containing water purification because they can accumulate on membrane surfaces and cause severe cake fouling.
