Abstract:This manuscript deals with a thermo-viscoelastic system describing the vibrations of a flexible structure. We study this structure's stabilization problem when subjected to Kelvin-Voigt damping and the second sound. Cattaneo-Vernotte's law governs the thermal effect, eliminating the physical paradox of equal speed of waves in the classical thermoelastic theory. Semigroup theory proves the solution's existence and uniqueness. Exponential stability is proved by the energy method.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
