Expression and Antigenic Evaluation of Helicobacter pylori UreB Fragment

Abstract: Background: Helicobacter pylori is a common cause of chronic infections worldwide. Helicobacter pylori urease is a multimeric enzyme with a molecular weight of 530 kDa, which is collected from two separate subunits of UreA (26.5 kDa) and UreB (61.7 kDa).

“…Roufi et al conducted a study to investigate the antigenicity of the recombinant UreB protein and its ability to produce antibodies against H. pylori using ELISA on the serum of infected individuals. Analysis for antibodies in patients have been shown that UreB is highly immunogenic and could be used as a suitable antigen for the diagnosis and also in the preparation of a vaccine against H. pylori ( 12 ).…”

“…it acts as a portion of whole urease to metabolize urea to ammonia and generate a neutral environment (16)(17)(18)(19)(20). FlaA (the predominant subunit of the flagella) is an important pathogenic factor responsible for H. pylori colonization and persistent infection (7,(21)(22)(23).…”
