Extending and Enhancing the Properties of Porous Cordierite Ceramics by Mo6+ ion Incorporation via Facile Combined Synthesis Technique

Abstract: Molybdenum‐doped cordierite ceramics have been fabricated through facile combined techniques, coprecipitation followed by solid state. XRD results revealed that α‐cordierite phase is predominated with increasing Mo6+ ion content. The density measurements showed that the bulk density reduced to the minimum value of 0.61 g/cm3, which corresponds to the maximum porosity of about 76.8% at 5% Mo6+ ion. The dielectric permittivity (ε) of pure cordierite is decreased with increasing Mo6+ ion content. The minimum diel… Show more

“…As an alternative to BG, cordierite is categorized as a crystalline ceramic material of the MgO-Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 ternary system. Cordierite was chosen due to its excellent chemical resistance and mechanical properties (~243 MPa) [17]. The suitability of cordierite as a biomaterial was proven by Mengucci et al [18], particularly in the shape of a sintered honeycomb monolith.…”

“…Cordierite is currently an attractive ceramic material for various applications [2]. It is because cordierite have good properties such as very low coefficient thermal expansion good thermal stability, corrosion resistance and generally low price [3], high refractoriness, good mechanical properties, and chemical resistance [4].…”

“…and Sun et al ,. sinterability and mechanical properties of cordierite are improved by ZrSiO 4 , especially the ZrSiO 4 will be less detrimental to the thermal shock resistance of cordierite mainly because of the low TEC (1.5 × 10 −6 /°C) . It can be concluded from Table and Fig.…”
