“…29 However, CS has great potential for high-value applications due to its high carbohydrate content and abundant supply. 30 In this study, a weak alkali-enhanced neutral DES biorefining strategy, choline chloride : ethylene glycol–sodium bicarbonate (DES–SB), was developed to obtain high yields of fermentable sugars (glucose and xylose) from CS. It also effectively separated high-quality lignin with a good structure and improved the viability of full-component utilization.…”

“…The acid-base method is the most used method for cellulose extraction; its advantages include a simple extraction process, high extraction efficiency, good thermal stability, good crystallinity, easy control of reaction conditions, and low cost. The beneficial thing about this method of pulp extraction is that it is able to achieve large-scale industrial production and has ample development space [11]. Therefore, in the present study, the objective was to evaluate the extraction by means of acid hydrolysis, alkaline hydrolysis, and bleaching of cellulose from residues of the wine industry, focusing on the valorization of the grape stem ("Vinhão"), and to characterize the effects of granulometric fractions and retain (500, 300, 250, 150, 150) µm in relation to color, FTIR, and light microscopy.…”

“…Fibers were obtained by submitting the industrial rice crop to alkali (NaOH) and bleaching treatments. Nanocrystals were extracted from these fibers using sulfuric acid (H 2 SO 4 ) hydrolysis treatment [ 41 , 42 ].…”
