Extraction, Preconcentration and Isolation of Flavonoids from Apocynum venetum L. Leaves Using Ionic Liquid-Based Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction Coupled with an Aqueous Biphasic System

Abstract: Abstract:Background: Ionic liquids (ILs) are considered as green solvents, and widely applied for the extraction of various compounds. Methods: The present research focuses on the extraction of flavonoids from Apocynum venetum L. leaves by ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE). Several major influencing factors were optimized. Then, an aqueous biphasic system (ABS) was applied for further isolation of flavonoids. Results: The flavonoids were mainly distributed in the top phase, while impurities were extracted t… Show more

“…11 Ionic liquid are pure salt compound consisting of ionic components (cations and anions) that melt at a temperature below 100°C. 12 Application of ionic liquid increased total phenolic content and total flavonoid if compared to conventional solvent. 9 Tanshinone and crypto tanshinone were significantly extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge by application of IL (C 14 mimBr and C 16 mimBr).…”

“…Analysis of the mechanism extraction was performed with a comparison between morphological of before and after extraction process using Journal of Young Pharmacists, Vol 9, Issue 4, Oct-Dec, 2017 27 respectively. Moreover, the hydrogen bonding capability of ionic liquids was a factor affecting the extraction process with considering anions.…”

“…26 Ethyl acetate was chosen because they have hydrogen bonding interaction with trans-resveratrol and water molecules, resulting in the trans-resveratrol and water migrating to the organic solvent from the ionic liquid. 15 The miscibility of IL with water also had a positive influence on recovery analytes and the possibility to regenerate IL by evaporation organic solvent.…”

“…10 It makes IL better than organic solvent. IL has good extractability for the various active compounds, such as from Peperomia pellucida, 11 Dioscorea nipponicae, 12 Psidium guajava, Smilax china, 13 Curcuma longa, 14 Apocynum venetum, 15 and Lycium ruthenicum. 16 The IL 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium ([Bmim]Br) solution was well known to extract trans-resveratrol from Polygoni cuspidatum.…”
