A sensitive and specific luminescence method for the determination of Fexofenadine (FEX), in pharmaceutical formulations is reported. The method is based on the sensitization of terbium (Tb 3+ ) by complex formation with FEX. The luminescence signal for Tb-FEX complex is greatly enhanced by the addition of triethylamine (ET 3 N) and zinc nitrate in methanol solution.Monitoring of the signal is accomplished when the instrument is in the phosphorescence mode with the excitation and emission wavelengths set at k ex = 220 nm and k em = 550 nm respectively. Optimum conditions for the formation of the complex in methanol were 2.25 · 10 À6 M of Tb 3+ , 5.00 · 10 À6 M of Et 3 N and Zn 2+ which allows for the determination of 10-800 ppb of FEX in the batch mode with a detection limit of 0.3 ppb. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of FEX in pharmaceutical formulations. ª 2015 The Authors. Potentiometric Determination Of Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Drug By Fabrication Of Liquid Membrane Electrodes

This paper presents a study in the electrochemical methods for the preparation of three new electrodes of Fexofenadine hydrochloride in a polymeric membrane. The first electrode was prepared from ion pair: molybdophosphoric acid reagent and fexofenadine cation with Di-n-butyl phthalate (DBPH), the subsequent electrode was prepared with O-Nitro phenyl octyl ether (NPOE) and the third electrode was set up by Tri-n-butyl phthalate (TBP), respectively as plasticizer for determination of Fexofenadine hydrochloride drug. Two electrodes indicated a Nernstian response with a slope of [57.01, 56.70] mV. decade −1 for the first and for the second electrodes individually, with detection limits 5.6×10 -6 mole.L -1 for first electrode and 3.5×10 -6 mole.L -1 for the second electrode and the third electrode gave a non Nernstain response equivalent to 14.30 mV.decade −1 . The electrodes FEX -MPA -DBPH, FEX -MPA -NPOE, and FEX -MPA -TBP work adequately over the pH range (2.0-4.5), (2.5-4.0), and (2.0-4.0) for Fexofenadine hydrochloride electrodes, respectively. The impact of interfering species was insignificant as demonstrated by selectivity coefficient values. The viability of the electrodes FEX -MPA -DBPH, FEX -MPA -NPOE, and FEX -MPA -TBP proceeded in a timeframe (41,36, and 13) days, respectively. The recommended electrodes were successfully used for the determination of Fexofenadine hydrochloride in pure form and pharmaceuticals preparations. This work arrived at excellent outcomes as far as the linearity, and selectivity of the methods.

Two simple and sensitive spectrophotometric techniques have been proposed for the estimation of antihistamine drugs, diphenhydramine hydrochloride (DPH), fexofenadine hydrochloride (FXO) and cetirizine dihydrochloride (CTZ) in pure forms and in their pharmaceutical forms via charge-transfer complex formation with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) reagents. Spectrophotometric methods involve the addition a known excess of DDQ or TCNQ reagents to DPH, FXO and CTZ drugs in acetonitrile, followed by the measurement of the absorbance of formed CT complexes at the selected wavelength. Various variables and parameters affecting the reactions were studied and investigated. Beer's law was obeyed in the concentration ranges of 16-144, 12-120, 12-86 μg mL −1 and 6-66, 24-216 and 4-68 μg mL −1 for DPH, FXO and CTZ drugs using DDQ and TCNQ reagents, respectively, with correlation coefficients not less than 0.9944. The reaction stoichiometry is found to be 1:1 [drug]: [DDQ or TCNQ]. For the spectrophotometric methods, molar absorptivity, detection and quantification limits, and sandell resistance are also calculated. According to ICH guidelines, both intra-and inter-day precision and reliability were evaluated. The estimated techniques have been successfully applied in their medicinal forms to the determination of the cited drugs. The finding showed no significant difference between the estimated methods and reported methods, depended on t test and variance ratio. Popular pharmaceutical additives did not interfere.
