Forsker, NOVA, seksjon for aldersforskning og boligstudier, Høgskolen i Oslo og Akershus tale.hellevik@nova.hioa.no SAMMENDRAG Artikkelen bruker tidsseriedata fra Norsk Monitor til å undersøke utviklingen i ulike aspekter ved nordmenns holdninger til innvandrere og innvandring i perioden 1993-2015. Tendensen er en økende overvekt av positive over negative oppfatninger når det gjelder innvandreres kulturelle og økonomiske rolle, villigheten til å hjelpe flyktninger og synet på begrensning av innvandringen. Holdningen til muslimske trossamfunn, der overvekten er negativ, har også hatt en positiv utvikling. Kohortanalyser viser at tendensen både er et resultat av generasjonsutskifting og individuelle standpunktskifter. Det som saerlig har bidratt til forskjell mellom generasjonene som skiftes ut eller endring av standpunkt innenfor den øvrige befolkningen, er endringer i verdisyn, fra tradisjonelle til moderne og fra materialistiske til idealistiske verdier. At flere får høy utdanning og at det blir flere innvandrere i norske lokalsamfunn, har også hatt en positiv effekt. Faktisk eller opplevd økono-misk situasjon har derimot hatt liten betydning for holdningsutviklingen. Resultatene er i tråd med såkalte kultur-, kontakt-og liberaliseringshypoteser i litteraturen, og i strid med økonomi-, konflikt-og konkurransehypoteser.Nøkkelord Innvandrerholdninger, kohortanalyse, generasjonseffekt, periodeeffekt ÅRGANG 58, NR. 3-2017, S. 250-283

SammendragI denne studien har vi kartlagt nordmenns holdninger til etisk forvaltning av pensjonsfond som kan innebaere redusert pensjon. Vi studerer folks holdning til etikk angående eget pensjonsfond samt deres forestillinger hvilke holdninger andre har.Fokuset er på hvordan politisk partipreferanse og tilhørende verdier påvirke holdninger. Vi analyserer dataene med tre velkjente verdisystemer beskrevet av henholdsvis Inglehart, Welzel og Hellevik.Vi finner at 40 % sier de ville velge etisk investering selv om det betyr at deres egen pensjon vil bli redusert, mens 32 % sier nei. Det er uvisst hvor de 28 % som sier de ikke vet, vil ende opp, men dette kan tolkes som en generell positiv holdning i befolkningen til etisk pensjonsforvaltning.Holdningene er avhengig av verdier, og Helleviks verdisystem er en litt bedre indikator enn de andre. Funnene viser at viljen til å investere etisk øker med idealisme, venstreorientering og utdanningsnivå, og synker med inntekt. De samme verdiene er ikke relatert til folks oppfatning av hvordan de tror andre ville valgt når det gjelder villighet til etisk pensjonsforvaltning. We study attitude regarding own pension fund as well as belief about other people's attitudes. Our findings show that 40% of the respondents claim they would choose ethical investment, even though it implies reduced pension. 28% would not choose ethical investment. It is unclear how those who say they do not know would end up, still the findings can be interpreted as a general positive attitude among people to ethical pension management.Attitudes depend on values, and Hellevik's value system is a slightly better predictor than the two other value systems. The findings show that willingness to invest ethically increases with idealism, leftist position and education level, and sinks with income. However, the values are not related to people's perception of other people's attitudes.

Associations between paid and unpaid work among Norwegian seniors: competition, complementarity or continuity?

A key issue in policy debates on active ageing is how to increase older people’s participation in both paid and unpaid work. This combined goal raises the question of whether the different activities compete for seniors’ time and energy or whether it is possible to achieve both, since such activities may instead complement one another. To address this issue, we examine associations between paid work, informal help provision and formal volunteering among 62- to 75-year-olds by using longitudinal data from the Norwegian Life Course, Ageing and Generation Study (2007, 2017). Our analyses show that both work exit and part-time work are associated with a higher probability of doing unpaid work in senior years compared with full-time work. However, previous engagement in unpaid activities matters considerably, regardless of paid work status. Individuals involved in informal help or formal voluntary work in 2007 were far more likely to do unpaid work 10 years later than those who were not involved. Since seniors who are already engaged in unpaid activities before leaving the labour market are likely to continue to provide informal help and volunteer, we argue that initiatives to stimulate combinations of paid and unpaid work in late careers may be advantageous.
