Extreme Significant Wave Height Map of Indonesia Based on SEAFINE and ERA5 Database

Abstract: The ERA5 database is comparable to the SEAFINE database in terms of data length, temporal resolution and spatial resolution for extreme significant wave height analysis. The extreme value analysis from the SEAFINE database is approximately 33% to 200% higher than ERA5 for a 1-yearly return period and 25% to 100% higher for a 100-yearly return period in most western and central Indonesian seas. The developed extreme significant wave height maps based on SEAFINE and factored ERA5 analysis results showed a good… Show more

“…In this study, the Hexaloc unit is assumed to have KD same as the hexapod KD 8.0. Two slope levels are 1:1.5 [6] waves' height varies from a minimum of 1 m to a maximum of 10 m following Indonesia's 100-yearly significant wave height [7]. According to this estimation, the wave with a height of more than 4 meters, the weight on individual units is more than 5 tons.…”

“…Significant wave height (𝐻𝑠) refers to the average height of the top one-third of a wave group used for a variety of applications, including ocean energy utilization [20]. Accurate significant wave height (Hs) prediction is crucial for marine renewable energy development [19].…”
