An efficient, facile, and mild oxidation of a variety of primary benzylic alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes with potassium peroxodisulfate in the presence of a catalytic amount of sodium chloride and silica sulfuric acid (SSA) in acetonitrile as solvent is reported.
