Facile Route to Silver Nanotubes

Abstract: Many novel applications of silver become possible if silver nanotubes can be produced reliably and easily. A simple, template‐assisted procedure is reported here. The Figure shows a scanning electron microscopy image of one of the silver nanotubes, which was broken by ultrasonic vibration, demonstrating that the nanostructure is indeed a hollow nanotube and showing that the nanotube is formed of (crystalline) nanoparticles.

“…Firstly, it is believed that microwave heating can reduce, or even eliminate, the overall thermal gradients during a reaction [29]. Obviously, a low thermal gradient is necessary to produce high-quality materials [50,51]. Thus the use of microwave heating provides us with thermalgradient-free and uniform reaction conditions for the nucleation and growth of the Bi@Bi 2 O 3 microspheres.…”

“…ternational Ltd. ͑England͒. 8 To synthesize uniform onedimensional CdSe nanotube arrays, first, 0.8M cadmium acetate dihydrate solution ͓Cd͑OAc͒ 2͑aq͒ ͔ was dropped on the surface of the AAO template and the drop was drawn by the filter under the template. Thus, parts of ͓Cd͑OAc͒ 2͑aq͒ ͔ were adhered on the walls of the template pores by the electrostatic interaction.…”

“…Photo-induced synthesis of assembled NPs silvered mirror. The sample preparation protocol used in this study is similar with that used in our previous works [20,21]. In a typical synthesis, about 10 mg of 2-hydroxy-2-methylpropiophenone (ca 0.5 % by weight) and about 9 100 mg of silver nitrate (ca 5 % by weight) were added to 2 mL of solvent and maintained for 60 minutes at room temperature under magnetic stirring to ensure complete dissolution.…”
