Factorial Design for Studying the Properties of Recycled Aggregate Concrete Exposed to Aggressive Media

Abstract: Recycled Aggregate Concrete (RAC) mixes (1.15: 2.3: 4.6) cement: fine aggregate (sand): coarse aggregate (demolition concrete waste), water / cement (0.5), and 50 % demolition aggregates were prepared according to standard procedure. The resistance of the recycled aggregate concretes towards chemicals was investigated throughout the attack of (Acid: acetic Acid HAC, and salt: Sodium Chloride NaCl) solutions. The test was carried out based on adopted experiments designed using Response Surface Methodology (RSM)… Show more

“…silica fume and 0.42 w/c. The RSM approach was applied successfully for the optimization and modeling of the mix design and properties of modified concrete and mortars [22,23] . On the other hand, the morphology of typical control concrete and SF-concrete specimens was tested by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).…”

“…The results obtained affirm that the espoused model can be utilized to detect the optimum compressive strength and that it is appropriate for usage. The methodology was applied successfully to optimize and model the properties of concrete composites including compressive strength [36][37][38][39].…”

“…Pareto chart is used to recognize the effect level of the independent parameters on each considered response, the perpendicular line (significant front) displays the effects that are statistically significant at 95% confidence level. Dependent parameter (responses) is optimized by the use of major trends as well as the empirical regression sample [28,29].…”
