Quality health services are health services that are provided based on patient needs, not based on what is owned by the service-providing institution. Patients with chronic diseases such as kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis need more supportive nursing care, such as physical and psychological support and information about their condition. This study aims to explore and identify health service needs in patients receiving hemodialysis therapy. This research is qualitative research on phenomenology. Data was collected using semi-structured and in-depth interviews with 17 participants of end-stage renal failure who underwent hemodialysis therapy, selected by purposive sampling. Thematic analysis is used for data analysis. The study found three main themes: services to meet basic needs when hemodialysis therapy was carried out, support received while undergoing hemodialysis therapy, and Various health services that have yet to be received while undergoing hemodialysis therapy. It can be concluded that identifying service needs positively impacts service quality as healthcare workers will better understand patient expectations. Hemodialysis patients have basic physical, psychological, and support needs. Unmet needs include inadequate drug therapy, health workers, and unmet information needs. Healthcare providers should develop strategies to manage these needs, including physical and psychological modification, improvement of facilities, infrastructure, human resources, and interdisciplinary approaches.

Introduction Stress and pain are high among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Benson's Relaxation technique affected a wide range of physical and psychological signs and symptoms among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of Benson's Relaxation Technique in reducing stress and pain among patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Materials and Methods A systematic review of randomized controlled trials was conducted. A systematic literature search was carried out from 2000 to 2023. Searched databases included EBSCO-Host “Academic Search, Cochrane, CINAHL, Health Business, MEDLINE, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, SPORTDiscus”, PubMed, Ovid, and Google Scholar. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines were conducted. RCTs were critically appraised using the Cochrane's Risk of Bias Tool. Four RCTs met the inclusion criteria and included in this review since they were applicable to practice. Results Four randomized controlled trials were identified supporting the use of Benson's relaxation technique as a nursing treatment in managing stress and pain among patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis, as it achieved a significant decrease in stress and pain scores. The overall quality of the randomized controlled trials was judged to be low to relatively moderate. Conclusions Most of the randomized controlled trials lacked details on intervention adherence. It is recommended to conduct additional longitudinal randomized controlled trials in different countries with bigger sample sizes, to provide more evidence for generalizing outcomes.

Introduction Dialysis is a long-term treatment for chronic kidney failure. Family caregivers play a significant role in the care of patients undergoing dialysis. The quality of life (QoL) of family caregivers is related to the quality of care provided to patients undergoing dialysis. Objectives This recent literature review aimed to synthesize the QoL experienced by caregivers of family members undergoing dialysis. Method This literature review employed four online databases, including SCOPUS, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science. The extracted articles were further screened on the basis of the PRISMA guidelines. In this review, articles were selected on the basis of the following eligibility criteria: double-blind peer-reviewed articles, articles written in English language and published between 1 January 2013 and January 2023. This review used thematic synthesis. Results Four analytical themes emerged, including physical capacity, social relations, psychological state, and environment. All of these themes correspond to the dimensions of QoL. Conclusion The QoL of family caregivers of patients undergoing dialysis must be considered . A good QoL of these caregivers will improve the balance of life and further increase the ability and quality of care they provide for family members undergoing dialysis.
