“…Groundwater chemistry is dependent on several factors including the nature of recharge, the residence time of groundwater in the aquifer, rock-water interaction beneath the surface, chemical weathering rates and anthropogenic activities (Andre et al, 2005;Ekwere and Edet, 2012;Loh et al, 2016;Rao et al, 2019 andSivakarun N, et al, 2020). Each groundwater system in an area has a distinctive suite of chemical components, which is attributed as a result of chemical changes in the rainwater as it percolates through the aquifer system (Back,1966;Derver,1988;Zhu et al, 2004).…”

“…Li et al (2010) used geochemical modeling to quantify the evolution process and formation mechanism of local groundwater chemistry in the southern plain of Pengyang County, Ningxia, China [5]. Sivakarun et al [6] adopted the methods of ion ratios and hydrochemical parameters statistics to illustrate the factors that affected groundwater in coastal areas of southern India [6]. Osta et al [7] revealed the hydrochemical characteristics and the main evolution processes of groundwater in sandstone aquifer.…”

“…The nature of groundwater is determined by the extent to which it has reacted with country rock (Edmunds and Gaye, 1994). The quality of groundwater is a function of multiple parameters and processes such as evaporation, selective uptake by vegetation, oxidation/reduction, wet and dry depositions of atmospheric salts, soil/rock-water interactions, cation exchange, dissociation of minerals, precipitation of secondary minerals, mixing of waters, pollution of lake/sea, leaching of fertilizers and manure, and other biological process (Eraifej and Sivakarun et al, 2020). Regular monitoring of quality parameters allows for the maintenance of a healthy ecosystem balance while also ensuring the long-term management of water resources.Quantity of dissolved constituents is higher in groundwater than that of surface water as it is exposed to soluble Groundwater quality evaluation for drinking and irrigation purposes in and around Bemetera Block, Chhattisgarh, India The hydrochemical evaluation and geospatial distribution of various chemical parameters in the block Bemetara, Saja and Berla has been attempted in this study.…”
