Factors influencing the electroreductive polymerization of di‐n‐hexyldichlorosilane

Abstract: This paper reports the study of the effects of solvent, support electrolyte and the nature of the electrodes on the electroreduction of di-n-hexyldichlorosilane. The work performed involved the use of different types of sacrificial anode (magnesium, aluminium and zinc) and cathode (magnesium, aluminium, zinc, stainless steel, nickel, carbon and palladium) in tetrahydrofuran containing lithium perchlorate (LiClO 4 ). Monomodal poly(di-n-hexyldichlorosilane) was obtained with Al/Al and Mg/Mg electrode pairs, but… Show more

“…A few theoretical models related to pervaporation of hydrophilic compounds with composite pervaporation membranes. 1,2‐Dimethoxyethane (1,2‐DME) is one hydrophilic compound that exhibits excellent miscible properties with water and is widely used as a solvent for organic synthesis,23–26 a monomer and additive for polymerization,27, 28 and a cosolvent for batteries 29, 30. During these applications, wastewater contaminated with 1,2‐DME is generated.…”

“…In this study, the pervaporation of 1,2‐dimethoxyethane (1,2‐DME) from dilute aqueous solutions was evaluated with crosslinked oligosilylstyrene–PDMS membranes. 1,2‐DME shows good miscibility with water and has been extensively applied as a solvent in organic syntheses,28–31 as a monomer and additive in polymerizations,32, 33 and as a cosolvent in batteries 34, 35…”
