Failure Rates After Revision Arthroscopic Stabilization for Recurrent Anterior Shoulder Instability Based on Anterior Capsulolabral Complex Conditions

Abstract: Background: A labral retear is an important contributing factor to surgical failure after arthroscopic soft tissue stabilization for recurrent anterior shoulder instability. However, surgeons frequently encounter poor tissue conditions in the anterior capsule, such as capsular tears, during revision surgery. Purpose: To analyze the clinical outcomes and failure rates of revision arthroscopic stabilization after failed Bankart repair based on the tissue conditions of the anterior capsule and the labrum. Outcome… Show more

“…In this study, the recurrent instability rates after surgery were 3.5 and 14.4% in the Latarjet procedure group and revision Bankart group, respectively. In patients who undergo revision surgery for failed Bankart repair, the anteroinferior capsulolabral tissue quality would be poor and the glenoid bony erosion or Hill-Sachs bony defect may be bigger than the primary cases [37]. In this condition, revision Bankart repair does not seem to guarantee strong anterior stability compared with the Latarjet procedure [26].…”

“…Among the ball games, basketball is one of the sports which is more prone to sports injury and its sports injury rate is relatively high. High-level basketball players often get injured in the knee joint and ankle joint, which is mainly determined by the technical characteristics of basketball [18,19]. e position of sports injury is inseparable from the sports project.…”
