Failure Site and ARI Score of Rebonded Brackets Using No-Mix Adhesive Resins

Abstract: To evaluate failure sites and ARI scores of re-bonded brackets after debonding of three no-mix adhesive brands. 120 teeth were divided into 2 groups for bonded and rebounded (60 teeth/group) and 3 subgroups (20 teeth/subgroup) for three no-mix adhesive, System1+, Rely-a-bond, and Unite. Tooth surface and bracket base were inspected by low power light microscope (10X) after debonding. The failure sites were assessed and residual adhesives was recorded using the Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI). The failure sites we… Show more

“…Moreover, the etching protocol did not influence the risk of enamel failure, although the SE technique resulted in a weaker adhesion. However, the adhesive material remaining on the tooth's surface indicates a prolonged removal time and surface polishing [2,20]. The ARI scores presented in the literature endorse the notion that the bond strength values are correlated with the amount of material left on the enamel's surface after debonding.…”

“…After 30 s of exposure to 35-37% orthophosphoric acid, the enamel gains a favourable structure. Because of the selective dissolution of enamel prism cores or their peripheries, adhesive that is subsequently applied can penetrate into surface irregularities [10,[17][18][19][20]. On the other hand, the selfetching (SE) technique in orthodontics significantly reduced the chair-side time and risk of moisture contamination of the enamel's surface during bracket placements [18].…”
