Abstract:Laponite, a synthetic nanosilicate clay and agar, a natural polysaccharide, both imbibe large amount of water and form into hydrogels. Various physical and chemical stimuli elicit the hydrogel response, which has been applied in designing diverse sensors and biomedical systems.
