Abstract:Future life‐detection missions will likely search for biosignatures within a wide range of organic compounds, including fatty acids. In order to determine such biosignatures, it is necessary to identify and quantify individual fatty acids present within a sample. In this study, we present a method using capillary electrophoresis coupled to contactless conductivity detection (CE–C4D) for the separation and detection of both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids after derivatization with N,N‐diethylethylenediami… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
