Ferrofluidic sensitive element in fiber optics

Abstract: This article discusses problems related to the use of ferrofluid, infiltrated in a microstructured optical fiber and controlled by an external magnetic field. It summarizes the results obtained by the authors on a fiber filled with this substance and subjected to harmonic or impulse field action. It is shown that magneto-optical effects are observed here, which significant for designing tunable fiber elements.
