Ferulic acid and PDMS modified medical carbon materials for artificial joint prosthesis

Abstract: Medical carbon material has been extensively studied due to their excellent biological and mechanical properties. However, the dissociation of the surface carbon particles greatly limited the application of medical carbon material (MCM). To overcome this defect, we introduced the polydimethylsiloxane, a polymer-coating material (PCM) that possesses acceptable biocompatibility, into medical carbon material to prevent the shedding of carbon debris. Additionally, to reduce inflammatory reactions and increase surf… Show more

“…FA is known as an antiaging [ 3 ], anti-inflammatory [ 4 ], antithrombotic [ 5 ], antidiabetic [ 6 ], antiulcerigen [ 7 ], antihemolitic [ 8 ], antiviral [ 9 ] and even anti-carcinogenic agent [ 10 ]. Due to the antibacterial effect, it may also be used in certain implants [ 11 ]. Ferulic acid plays an important role in the human body and is absorbed in the small intestine as a major metabolite of chlorogenic acids [ 12 , 13 ].…”

“…Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are ideal tribonegative materials for biocompatible TENGs. They are highly biocompatible and have been widely used in many medical devices. , However, tribopositive materials with high biocompatibility are rarely investigated. Kim et al developed a new butylated melamine formaldehyde polymer as a highly durable tribopositive material .…”
