Finding Closure: The First WATCHMAN Device in the English-Speaking Caribbean

Abstract: The left atrial appendage is an important source of thromboembolism and stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Mechanical closure with WATCHMAN has been proven as an effective alternative to Vitamin K antagonist anticoagulation for stroke prophylaxis. We report the first case of this technology in the English-speaking Caribbean.
