First-principles study of optical properties of InN nanosheet

Abstract: Based on density functional theory (DFT), some optical properties of InN nanosheet, such as dielectric function, energy loss function, refractive index, reflectivity and absorption coefficient, have been calculated using the modified Becke–Johnson (mBJ) exchange–correlation potential and full potential-linearized augmented plane waves (FP-LAPW) method. The study of dielectric function show that optical properties of InN nanosheet are anisotropic and important energy range in the optical process is between low … Show more

“…The refractive indices of h‐BN, h‐AlN, and h‐InN are shown in part I of Figure . [ 110,118,156 ] The optical properties can be affected by defects, strain, and number of layers, among other factors. The refractive indices of 2D h‐InN with V N , V In , and V In and N are also shown in part I of Figure 10.…”

“…Thus, researchers are exploring other materials with graphenelike structures and appropriate band gaps. Among these novel graphenelike materials, AlN and InN nanosheets, which belong to group III-V nitrides, have drawn extensive attention due to their excellent semiconducting property [ 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ]. In particular, the high carrier mobility and large specific surface area of InN mean that it has great potential to be applied in the field of gas adsorption and sensing [ 22 , 23 , 24 ].…”

“…So, the hybrid monolayers act as a transparent medium of light for infrared, visible and extreme UV light. 76 Optical conductivity relates the density of the current in a material with respect to the applied electric field as a function of frequency. Complex optical conductivity is closely related to the complex dielectric function.…”
