“…Case reports describe immunocompromised patients presenting with P. variotii infections affecting many different organ systems including the lower respiratory tract, bone and blood . Paecilomyces variotii pneumonia, endophthalmitis, sinusitis, peritonitis and soft tissue infections have also been reported in otherwise healthy patients . Paecilomyces lilacinus is commonly associated with ocular lens implant infections and invasive soft tissue infections, both of which have been seen in immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients .…”

“…Otherwise, P. variotii may present with various infections including pneumonia, endophthalmitis, sinusitis, and peritonitis . However, there is only 1 reported case with subcutaneous lesions in a diabetic patient caused by P. variotii . This case is the first P. variotii skin infection in a kidney transplant patient.…”

“…2 Subcutaneous or deep mycosis constitutes a group of diseases that affects primarily the skin, resulting from the implantation of pathogenic fungi into the dermis or the subcutaneous tissue. 9 Herein, we report a case with chronic ATLL associated with subcutaneous hyalohyphomycosis. 7 Hyalohyphomycosis is a term used to designate invasive fungal infections caused by hyaline-septated hyphae in tissue.…”
