Five hypoxia and immunity related genes as potential biomarkers for the prognosis of osteosarcoma

Abstract: Osteosarcoma accounts for a frequently occurring cancer of the primary skeletal system. In osteosarcoma cells, a hypoxic microenvironment is commonly observed that drives tumor growth, progression, and heterogeneity. Hypoxia and tumor-infiltrating immune cells might be closely related to the prognosis of osteosarcoma. In this study, we aimed to determine the biomarkers and therapeutic targets related to hypoxia and immunity through bioinformatics methods to improve the clinical prognosis of patients. We downlo… Show more

“…The expression of STC2 is associated with the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients [42]. A study has shown that STC2 promotes the occurrence and development of osteosarcoma by inhibiting CD8 + T cells [43]. In this study, we studied the relationship between STC2 expression level and prognosis of HNSCC patients based on the TCGA database and found that high STC2 expression was associated with poor prognosis of HNSCC.…”

“…Functional enrichment analysis showed that hypoxia was differentially enriched in two groups ( p < 0.05). Liu et al revealed hypoxia and immunity related genes as potential biomarkers for the prognosis of OS 37 . Hypoxia accounts for a common feature of the bone microenvironment, inducing aberrant expression of genes promoting the metastasis of OS.…”

“…Liu et al revealed hypoxia and immunity related genes as potential biomarkers for the prognosis of OS. 37 Hypoxia accounts for a common feature of the bone microenvironment, inducing aberrant expression of genes promoting the metastasis of OS. Hypoxia triggers the expression of hypoxiainducible factor (HIF), which is the main focus of osteosarcoma metastasis research.…”

“…43, 44 Samples were normalized based on their protein content and resuspended in spiked chloroform. C17:0 sphingomyelin, C 13 oleic acid, C17:0 ceramide, C57:0 TAG, and C18:0/C18:0 phosphatidylcholine-d 70 were used as internal standards. LC-MS-based lipid analysis analyses were carried out using an Agilent 1260 HPLC in tandem with an Agilent 6530 Jet Stream ESI-QToF-MS system as we described previously.…”
