“…On the basis of the above considerations, we made a novel bridging ligand containing three carboxylates and one triazole group, namely, 5-(3-methyl­formate-1 H -1,2,4-triazole-1-methyl)­benzen-1,3-dicarboxy­late (H 3 mtbd), to join Er­(III) and Yb­(III) cations to construct two lanthanide-based CPs. Note that H 3 mtbd exhibits splendid characteristics for building up CPs: (i) It bears several hydrogen donor sites or coordination sites at the N or O atoms on the triazole unit or three carboxylic acids (it is easier to get uncoordinated −COOH under acidic conditions), and the π···π stacking between the aromatic units is helpful in constructing CPs. In addition, H 3 mtbd employs various coordination modes to interact with different metal caions owing to the triazole rotation.…”
