Abstract:Bromoacetaldehyde (BAA) was used to study the secondary structure of DNA in A-phage particles. It was determined that about 1% of the adenines in the intraphage A-DNA reacts readily with BAA, thus, they are placed in DNA sites with disturbed complementary interactions. These adenines are close to the tryptophan residues of the phage protein. Fluorescence emission of EA in the intraphage DNA is dramatically quenched. This, apparently, indicates the interaction between CA and Trp-and/or Tyrand/or Met-residues of… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
