Fluoride concentration data in groundwater resources of Gonabad, Iran

Abstract: The data was obtained from fluoride ion concentrations determined in groundwater sources of Gonabad. A number of 144 samples from 12 drinking groundwater wells located in different regions at the mid of spring, summer, autumn and winter from each regions, were collected from spring 2016 to spring of 2017. The fluoride ions in the samples were determined through the SPADNS colorimetric method at a wavelength of 580 nm. Dispersion of fluoride ions in terms of concentration in groundwater resources of Gonabad was… Show more

“…The presence of fluorosis in various regions of Ecuador has been reported, especially in central highland areas (16); it is related to the appearance of high levels of fluoride in the water supply network; however, different studies conducted in the same region report a normal fluoride concentration (17), suggesting that there are other factors that produce dental fluorosis. For this reason, one of the goals of this study is to determine the relationship of these factors with the prevalence and severity of dental fluorosis in schoolchildren, between 10-12 years of age, from ¨Pimampiro¨, Imbabura Province; ¨Colta¨, Chimborazo Province, and ¨Quito¨, Pichincha Province.…”

“…This study shows that the local water in Transylvania has a lower concentration of Ca and Mg than the concentration recommended by the specialists -this is insufficient to promote tooth remineralization, though sufficient levels of F are present to protect against caries. 9 Fluoride values obtained from the water samples classify Transylvania as fluoride-lacking area. In the analyzed water samples with reduced fluoride concentrations, low concentrations of Ca and Mg were also found, showing reduced overall mineralization of water which together with In all batches, the Pearson coefficient value revealed a high correlation between the Ca and Mg values in the drinking water and the Ca concentration in the subjects' dentine.Being an essential element for healthy teeth, F is added to drinking water to prevent caries.…”
